Technology

Many children are raised using electronic devices. We don’t have electronic devices for each child to experiment and learn with. We will however utilize videos, TV programing and audio devices for different educations. We will use sign language videos as well as Spanish language educational programming. We will utilize audio devices to play classical/calm music during naptime.

We strongly feel that these activities will enhance your child’s emotional, physical and social well-being. We understand how hard it can be for a child to adjust to a school setting or new center. Therefore, we encourage as much parent participation as possible, feel free to come and visit anytime. Parent volunteers at class parties and concerts are a great way to get involved. The best assurance for the success of your child’s learning and development is close cooperation and understanding of parents and staff. Staff phone numbers can be made available to parents upon request. A parent/teacher meeting (informal or formal) will be scheduled when requested.

Balancing Technology & Social Skills

Generation Alpha:

  • Born: 2010 - Present

At Little University, LLC we provide childcare for ages 6 weeks - 11 years of age. This age group is considered Generation Alpha and it is important to understand how children of Generation Alpha see the world in order to provide proper childcare for them. Generation Alpha already relies heavily on technology to help them learn and discover the world. Technology will continue to be a heavy influence in life and education. At Little University we focus on a healthy balance of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive areas to develop your child's learning skills and personal skills necessary to prepare them for school and life.

  • Physical: develop muscles and senses through recess and other activities.
  • Social: talking, playing, and relating with peers and teachers.
  • Emotional: self awareness, expression of feelings, and self care.
  • Cognitive: how a child thinks, communicates, reasons, and problem solves.

Generation Alpha & Technology

The children that are in the age group of Generation Alpha are advanced in many ways because they have technology at their fingertips, although too much use of technology at a young age can cause a number of negative social and cognitive characteristics such as:

  • Reduced Attention Span and Concentration
  • Less Social Interaction
  • Less Creativity and Imagination
  • Increase Depression and Anxiety

At Little University, we appreciate the use of technology although promote a healthy balance of social interaction so children can develop the personal skills needed in school and life.

Outdoor Play at Little University, LLC

At Little University, we strive to expand your child's learning skills. We believe that developing social skills and physical exercise is apart of the Little University balanced diet. Our main campus facility is equipped with a fenced in playground where your child can enjoy recess and participate in organized games under staff supervision. The center will provide outdoor play each day in suitable weather for all students. We will not play outdoors when there are safety issues; such as rain, lightening, ice, cold wind chill, high pollen count or any other condition considered unsafe.

We will limit outdoor play in extremely hot or humid weather and provide lots of water breaks. We will refer to the Child Care Weather Watch on Google when determining whether the weather is suitable for outdoor play. Washable play clothes are the most suitable; shorts may be worn during warm weather. We will go outside in the winter. During cold weather children will need coats, hats, mittens and/or jackets. When outdoor play is not possible, the center will provide structured indoor large muscle play.
